Rule408
Solving a federal legal challenge
Litigation often drags out due to posturing, which creates undesirable and unintended consequences. Hence, our legal system needed a solution. OWDT developed a comprehensive identity system and a discrete negotiation application as a branding and technology partner. The project included naming, positioning, and clear visual language. The name came from Rule 408 of the Federal Rules of Evidence, and the visual identity utilizes red stripes and blue lettering to broadcast a federal tone. We needed to avoid eye-straining colors, so we created a calmer innholder color palette for the application’s functional elements.
Today Rule408 provides a platform for both sides to exchange offers without giving away their position, resulting in the best settlement in the shortest amount of time possible. And in 2022, Rule408 was introduced to the public as part of the “Ecosystem of Innovation” during a CLE that included four supreme court justices from three states and Stanford Law School staff.
