St. George Place

A new digital front door for the neighborhood.
St. George Place Civic Association needed a dedicated digital presence that clearly separated SGPCA from the Management District, TIRZ, and other local entities.
OWDT approached the project as more than a website redesign. We developed a complete digital and brand system centered on residents: audience research, user journeys, information architecture, content, visual identity, custom imagery, responsive design, WordPress development, accessibility, analytics, governance, and launch.
The Central Idea
Stewardship, not Authority.
SGPCA exists to help residents protect, improve, enjoy, and participate in the community they share.
The new experience was designed around one question: What does the resident need to know or do next?

The Challenge
One neighborhood. Multiple organizations. Unclear digital boundaries.
SGPCA information previously lived within a broader St. George Place website alongside governmental and district content.
This created several challenges:
- Residents could not always tell which organization owned a service or responsibility.
- Security, meetings, events, and other time-sensitive information could become difficult to find or outdated.
- New residents encountered organizational complexity before receiving basic neighborhood guidance.
- Participation and volunteer pathways were not clear enough.
The Civic Association lacked a distinct digital and visual identity.
The new platform needed to simplify the experience without oversimplifying the neighborhood’s organizational structure.
Research & User Experience
Resident-first. Action-first.
Rather than designing around demographics, OWDT focused on the reasons people visit the website.
Primary audiences included established homeowners, new residents, engaged participants, prospective property owners, and Board administrators.
From that research, six priority journeys emerged:
- Security & Vacation Watch
- Meetings & Events
- Understanding SGPCA
- Getting Involved
- Neighborhood Orientation
- Governance & Records
The experience was designed so the most important resident tasks could be reached within one or two interactions wherever possible.

Information Architecture & Content
Organized around resident needs, not organizational structure.
The new navigation was simplified. The content strategy followed the same principle.
Instead of institutional language, the site uses direct actions such as:
- View Security Information
- See Upcoming Events
- Join the Email List
- Volunteer
- Contact SGPCA
The homepage functions as a resident dashboard without visually feeling like one, giving immediate access to security, meetings, events, neighborhood updates, participation, and essential contacts.
Brand & Visual Identity
Modern Neighborhood Heritage.
The SGPCA brand was designed to feel like an established neighborhood institution without looking governmental or corporate.
The brand personality became:
Established. Welcoming. Refined. Civic. Residential. Connected.
The visual system draws directly from St. George Place itself:
- Heritage Green from mature landscaping and tree canopy
- Warm Ivory inspired by residential architecture
- Charcoal for structure and readability
- Terracotta for selective warmth and emphasis
- Newsreader for an editorial, established voice
- Instrument Sans for contemporary functionality
The design combines generous space, editorial typography, restrained color, custom iconography, and neighborhood-focused photography.

Photography & Day / Night Experience
“This is our neighborhood.”
Photography became a defining part of the identity.
Rather than relying on generic civic imagery, the visual system focuses on St. George Place itself:
- Tree-lined streets
- Homes and architecture
- Landscaping
- Neighborhood entrances
- Residents
- Security
- Community events
- Yard of the Month
- Local landmarks
A coordinated Day View / Night View experience extends the identity into the website.
Day imagery emphasizes sunlight, greenery, architecture, and community activity.
Night imagery shifts toward streetlights, illuminated homes, evening activity, and a quiet sense of safety.
The result is a digital environment that feels connected to the neighborhood at all hours.
Development & Launch
Built to remain useful after launch.
The website was developed as a maintainable WordPress platform using structured content and reusable components.
Meetings, events, Board members, news, security information, and resources can be managed centrally and reused throughout the website.
The technical strategy also addressed:
- WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility
- Responsive behavior
- Performance
- Security
- SEO
- Analytics
- Backups and maintenance
- Administrative permissions
- Long-term content governance
This reduces duplicated information and makes it easier for future Boards and volunteers to keep the website current.

Outcome
More than a new website.
The project gave SGPCA:
- A distinct Civic Association identity
- A dedicated digital home
- Clearer separation from other neighborhood entities
- Faster access to security and resident services
- Centralized meetings, events, news, and governance
- Clear participation pathways
- A complete visual and verbal brand system
- A distinctive Day / Night experience
- A scalable WordPress platform
- A framework for long-term administration and governance
SGPCA.org is designed around the resident rather than the organization.
